Townsville Recovery Services Centre delivers the Bridge Program which aims to provide a safe, drug-free environment to help establish a healthier lifestyle, focus on the problems that underlie addiction, provide a holistic treatment service that will help achieve physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing via medical treatment, one-to-one and group and pastoral support, impart living skills to not only overcome addiction but to lead a more meaningful and fulfilling life.


About the role:

In this role, as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will provide support to clients admitted to Townsville Recovery Services Centre in a safe, sensitive and culturally appropriate manner which meets their immediate physical, mental and emotional needs which are in line with TSA values and mission.

Role Requirements:


  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Qualifications or demonstrated knowledge of relevant areas of Drug and Alcohol service provision. Minimum Certificate level qualifications in community/social or other services.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a community setting, particularly working with people with mental health issues and knowledge of resources.
  • At least two years’ recovery where applicable.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Driver’s licence.
  • Positive Notice Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Sound presentation and communication skills to be able to interact positively with a variety of people.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Team player, flexible with a positive attitude.
  • Effective problem solving skills, evaluation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour.
  • Ability to acknowledge and support the individual rights and responsibilities of all Participants.
  • Ability to maintain the privacy, confidentiality and dignity of all Participants.
  • Sound computer skills.
