The Oasis College is an Independent Non Government Special Assistance Accredited and Registered School providing a supportive positive learning  environment where through flexible learning options, social supports and skilled education service, disengaged students can find hope and achieve their potential. The school  promotes a health and well being framework and is accredited to deliver education to Year 11-12.  

The primary goal of Oasis College is to reengage students back onto education and career pathways. The Oasis College is part of The Salvation Army Oasis Youth Support Network.  The overall goals of Oasis is to work with young people to overcome adversity and build independence through engagement and targeted education and social interventions.  Besides the NSW NESA approved educational curriculum, education would include social, emotional and living skills, and spiritual education.  


The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Youth Support Worker to join our team. Duties involve supporting the students and teachers in the Oasis College through education support. This occurs through client care and providing informal counseling with program participants, and making appropriate referrals as needed.

What we are seeking from you?

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army
  • Formal qualifications in youth work, social work, psychology or relevant tertiary training
  • Experience with strength-based approaches
  • Strong behaviour management skills with adolescents
  • Ability to liaise with schools
  • High level of organisational skills
  • Enthusiasm & initiative
  • Commitment to working with disadvantaged young people & their families
  • Ability to work with different cultures & backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously & as part of a team
  • Possess current NSW driver’s license
  • Demonstrated experience in working with at risk youth
  • Demonstrated experience in working with young people & their families, preferably in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of work health safety obligations 
  • Professional development required to maintain skills for the role
