Over the past year The Salvation Army (TSA) has been working towards joining the two existing Eastern and Southern territories into one unified organisation under the leadership of a National Commander.  This will deliver a single Australia territory with an aligned vision, united voice, stronger partnerships, better stewardship, and the ability to make an even greater impact on the many people who depend on our services. 


The Service and Mission Information System (SAMIS), is an online Client, Case and Contract Management System used by The Salvation Army in the Australia Territory and New Zealand, Fiji & Tonga Territory.  It is 100% owned and developed by The Salvation Army Australia Territory. 


SAMIS is part of the Client Information Services team and the wider Research & Social Justice Department that provides compelling research, social policy and advocacy to supports quality service delivery, increased innovation, and influences social change across Australia.


The System Developer will report to the Client Information Services Manager and be based in Redfern.  This role will design, enhance and maintain SAMIS, ensuring it continues to meet business requirements and system issues are resolved efficiently.


The role will be responsible for:

-        Contributing to the ongoing development and maintenance of SAMIS

-        Review errors, fault finding and fix bugs

-        Develop digital solutions utilising Java, SQL, HTML, CSS and other technologies

-        Integrate data from various back end services and databases

-        Maintain the application system and proacitvely monitor the production environment against exteral attacks

-        Ensure the systems are secure and storage workoads are balanced

-        Coordinate usability tests  


Over the next 12 months a significant undertaking will the integration of two separate instances of SAMIS covering the former Eastern and Southern Territories of The Salvation Army in Australia.  Candidates with experience in such projects are encouraged to include details of this in their application.


For this role you will have broad technical knowledge and experience; relevant IT tertiary qualification/s and/or extensive and relevant work experience.
