The National Worship Arts Team:


The National Worship Arts Team is part of the new Faith Communities [Corps] Development team in the Mission Support Department, of The Salvation Army (TSA).  The team, led by Ken Waterworth as the Worship Arts Manager, will provide strategic support and leadership development to frontline practitioners.


The team will seek to explore and implement effective use of creative arts such as music, multimedia, visual and/or dramatic arts in Faith Communities across the country


It is our aim to facilitate collaborative networks and training opportunities to support best practice and to build leadership capacity.

We are looking for a community-focussed person, experienced in the creative arts industry, who understands the diversity of worship styles in the The Salvation Army and shares its mission and values.

As the Worship Arts Coordinator:

In this full time role, you will strengthen leadership capability in the worship arts, as used in TSA Faith Communities, through targeted facilitation of innovative and strengths based initiatives that support local mission delivery within the designated region.


Reporting to the Worship Arts Manager based in Melbourne, this role is located in Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. However, dependant on successful applicant office location within the state may be negotiated. This role will require substantial travel throughout the state and, as a member of the national team, across the country.




It is essential that this position builds the capability of ministry leadership and develops and implements a national Worship Arts strategy. Other key accountability areas include:

  • Promote and support a healthy worship culture that is aligned with the vision of The Salvation Army
  • Promote and support appropriate ministry and mission opportunities and ensure consistency of practice and resourcing across the region
  • Facilitate innovative and strength based initiatives that support local mission delivery
  • Work with local faith communities (Corps) to build effective community engagement opportunities using the arts
  • Work with Faith Communities to identify and promote appropriate worship ministry opportunities
  • Build networks across the assigned region that supports consistent and best practice in worship ministry and mission


The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in creative arts or substantial, equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in worship arts ministry
  • Experience in creative arts industries such as music, multimedia visual and/or dramatic arts
  • Proven experience in training, teaching and/or coaching
  • Demonstrated effective leadership experience
