Position Summary

Crisis Case Manager

The Salvation Army is one of this country’s most loved organisations. The Salvation Army’s ‘Christianity with its sleeves rolled up’ ethos has endeared it to the Australian public.

Our Crisis Accommodation Service in Illawarra assists women and Children  in the community who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. 

In this role you will deliver case planning and support to assist clients towards independent living which involves provision of information, goal setting, advocacy, assistance with living skills and referral to professional/services. This support is achieved through Truama Informed case management  and working effectively with other members of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive client service within the values and mission of TSA.

Length of contract: This position is maximum term to 30 January 2020.

Essential Requirements:

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • BA in Social Science /Social work (or similar).
  • Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
  • Knowledge of Case Management principles and experience in the application of those principles.
  • Self motivated, high level of initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Sound presentation/facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact positively with a variety of people and to assist in teaching clients to become self-reliant.
  • Sound administration skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated effective use of interpersonal skills.
  • Team player, flexible with a positive attitude.
  • Effective problem solving skills, evaluation and conflict resolution skills.
  • An ability to liaise and work with a wider range of support personnel and professional groups
  • Demonstrated experience in working with disadvantaged people.
