The Company

The Role

The Employment Consultant is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the EmploymentPlus Local program at Fairfield, Liverpool and Campsie Corps. This voluntary employment service provides humanitarian migrants with local, personal support to find sustainable employment. The Employment Consultant will support a caseload of highly disadvantaged job seekers with complex barriers to employment.

The Employment Consultant is responsible for delivering a range of preparatory and job search support activities, including securing employment for each participant of the program through active reverse marketing (advocacy) with local employers. They will provide leadership and coaching to a team of volunteers at each centre to build the capacity of The Salvation Army to deliver local employment services.

This part-time (30.4 hours per week) role is a 12 month maximum term role, located 1 day at Liverpool Corps, 1 day at Campsie Corps and 2 days at Fairfield Corps.

What we are seeking from you?

  • Successful program management/coordination experience in a similar context, including management of caseload, maintenance of client records, program budget and liaison with community stakeholders
  • Experience in frontline employment service delivery with CALD job seekers with complex barriers to employment, including delivery of both group activities and individual coaching / case management
  • Demonstrated success achieving placement and outcome goals in a government regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with employers, source vacancies and broker employment for candidates – reverse marketing skills are essential
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, find innovative solutions to complex social and employment problems  
  • Mandatory National Police Check
  • Mandatory Working with Children Check
  • Driver’s license essential
