Position Summary

MAINTENANCE WORKER - RETIREMENT LIVING - WARRINGAH PLACE, COLLAROY

  • Full Time position - 38 hours per week

The Salvation Army (TSA) Aged Care currently operates 2000 residential care places across 20 residential aged care facilities, seven retirement villages and approximately 480 Commonwealth Home Care Packages. About the Role


We have a vacancy for a Maintenance Worker at our Warringah Place Retirement Village, part of the Collaroy campus which includes a retirement village and 2 residential aged care facilities.

This valuable role is critical to ensuring the quality of life and the safety of our residents.  We expect you to have experience in proactive maintenance schedules and a focus to ensure that all is completed to plan.  We require you to respond rapidly and calmly to reactive situations within your scope of knowledge, work with relevant trades and manage external contractors to fix anything.  The ideal person for this role will have a gentle personality with strong ability to be respectful and respond kindly to all enquiries.
 

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An understanding, empathy, appreciation and the ability to promote the values and ethos of The Salvation Army
  • Demonstrated experience in building and grounds maintenance, as well as managing contractors
  • The ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an empathetic approach
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills and the ability to use an electronic maintenance system
  • Understanding of accountability and record keeping practices
  • Drivers licence essential
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to implement Workplace Health and Safety
